i did Al Qaeda as my topic and i found this information on globalsecurity.org
ReplyDeleteAl-Qaeda is an international terrorist network led by Usama bin Laden [the "Osama" spelling is deprecated, because there is no letter "O" in Arabic). Established around 1988 by bin Laden, al-Qaeda helped finance, recruit, transport and train thousands of fighters from dozens of countries to be part of an Afghan resistance to defeat the Soviet Union. To continue the holy war beyond Afghanistan, al-Qaeda's current goal is to establish a pan-Islamic Caliphate throughout the world by working with allied Islamic extremist groups to overthrow regimes it deems "non-Islamic" and expelling Westerners and non-Muslims from Muslim countries.
In February 1998, al-Qaeda issued a statement under banner of "The World Islamic Front for Jihad Against the Jews and Crusaders" saying it was the duty of all Muslims to kill US citizens—civilian or military—and their allies everywhere. Al-Qaeda would merge with Egyptian Islamic Jihad (Al-Jihad) of Ayman al-Zawahiri in June 2001.
After al-Qaeda’s September 11, 2001, attacks on America, the United States launched a war in Afghanistan to destroy al-Qaeda’s bases there and overthrow the Taliban, the country’s Muslim fundamentalist rulers who harbored bin Laden and his followers. “Al-Qaeda” is Arabic for “the base.”
In an al-Qaeda house in Afghanistan, New York Times reporters found a brief statement of the “Goals and Objectives of Jihad”:
Establishing the rule of God on earth
Attaining martyrdom in the cause of God
Purification of the ranks of Islam from the elements of depravity
In 1998, several al-Qaeda leaders issued a declaration calling on Muslims to kill Americans—including civilians—as well as “those who are allied with them from among the helpers of Satan.”
The website I used was http://faluninfo.net/topic/22/
ReplyDeleteIt seemed accurate because there were contact numbers and emails for information centers, and provides a page on who created this website. The Falun Dafa Information Center is the group who created this website to provide official press office for Falun Gong and to be a primary resource for information about the human rights abuses Falun Gong practitioners face at the hands of the Chinese Communist regime.
I chose was the Falun Gong which is traditional Chinese spiritual discipline. It consists of moral teachings, a meditation, and four gentle exercises that resemble tai-chi and are known in Chinese culture as “qigong.” They believe these practices improve the health and condition of one’s body.

Al Qaeda is one of the main countries involved in war. Terrorists dont usally just got after Bagdad or London they target the media. Al Qaeda knows that the media is there to learn about sex, and violence sells Al Queada has sucked an audiance in by selling hideous violence.Travis also chose to do Al Queada and talks about how Al Qaeda is an international terriorist network thats led by Ben Laden. Thats why they target the media to have an audiance. They kill people and torture or even send bomb threats. The bomb threats are sent to America and have killed our people.

ReplyDeleteI found my website very reliable becuase its an actual excerpt from the New York Times Newspaper
After the 1967 Arab-Israeli war, control devolved to the leadership of the various fedayeen militia groups, the most dominant of which was Yasser Arafat's Al-Fatah. In 1969, Arafat became chairman of the PLO's Executive Committee, a position he still holds. In the early 1980s, PLO became fragmented into several contending groups but remains the preeminent Palestinian organization. The United States considers the PLO an umbrella organization that includes several constituent groups and individuals holding differing views on terrorism. At the same time, US policy accepts that elements of the PLO have advocated, carried out, or accepted responsibility for acts of terrorism. ReplyDeleteHezbollah is a Shiite Muslim political group with a militant wing the United States defines as a terrorist organization. The group, which is active in Lebanon, is a major provider of social services, operating schools, hospitals, and agricultural services for thousands of Lebanese Shiites. Hezbollah's political standing was bolstered after a wave of violence in May 2008 prompted Lebanon's lawmakers to compromise with the group.
ReplyDeleteAum Shinrikyo is a religous group that means new religous movement they follow what they call kinji wich means religion of truth
ReplyDeleteparamilitary group and political party based in Lebanon. It is regarded as a resistance movement throughout much of the Arab and Muslim worlds,[3] and is supported by Iran and Syria. Multiple countries, including Sunni Arab countries such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan,[6] have condemned actions by Hezbollah. The United States, United Kingdom, Egypt,[7] Israel, Australia, and Canada regard Hezbollah as a terrorist organization, in whole or in part.[8]
ReplyDeleteHezbollah, which started with only a small militia, has grown to an organization with seats in the Lebanese government, a radio and a satellite television-station, and programs for social development.[14] Hezbollah maintains strong support among Lebanon's Shi'a population, and is able to mobilize demonstrations of hundreds of thousands.[15] Hezbollah alongside with some other groups began the 2006–2008 Lebanese political protests in opposition to the government of Prime Minister Fouad Siniora.[16] A later dispute over Hezbollah preservation of its telecoms network led to clashes and Hezbollah-led opposition fighters seized control of several West Beirut neighborhoods from Future Movement militiamen loyal to Fouad Siniora. These areas were then handed over to the Lebanese Army.[17] A national unity government was formed in 2008, giving Hezbollah and its opposition allies control of eleven of thirty cabinets seats; effectively veto power.[5]
Hezbollah receives military training, weapons, and financial support from Iran, and political support from Syria.

Though he was a Saudi, most of his senior leadership was Egyptian In late 2001, most of its training camps were destroyed, and the group became somewhat diffuse, with much of its leadership relocating either to Iran, the mountainous region along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, or to Pakistan's cities.Al-Qaeda's purpose is to spread jihad worldwide through a number of means, including funding and training Islamic and ethnic guerilla movements, issuing propaganda aimed at inspiring freelance jihadists to commit acts of terrorism, and organizating and conducting complex attacks on countries it sees opposing it.

After decades of bloodletting, the government's war with the Tamil Tigers may be over. ReplyDeleteSikhs in Punjab are the majority community. The problems that arose in Punjab were due to the religion-based elements who sought to widen the communal divide between the Sikhs and other communities for their political ends. In the course of time, as many Sikhs fell victims to the terrorist bullets and bombs as Hindus. This defeated the aim of the terrorists of communalizing the Punjab polity. The people of Punjab have rejected terrorist violence and have demonstrated their faith in the democratic process by electing representatives to the State and national legislatures in elections held during 1992.

ReplyDelete* Al Qaeda draws militants from across the Arab world. It makes up only a small proportion of the Sunni Arab insurgency in Iraq but its spectacular suicide bombings kill the most people. In the past year, Sunni politicians and U.S. officials have said it accounted for between 2 and 5 percent of total resistance.
In October, the al Qaeda-led Mujahideen Shura Council said it had set up the Islamic State of Iraq, an umbrella group of Sunni militant affiliates and tribal leaders led by Abu Omar al-Baghdadi. In April it named a 10-man "cabinet", including Masri as its war minister.
* A U.S. security crackdown in Baghdad, launched in February, forced many militants out of the capital into nearby Diyala and Salahaddin provinces. The U.S. military's Operation Arrowhead Ripper is targeting al Qaeda car bomb networks that cause carnage in Baghdad.
* Al Qaeda has been involved in a power struggle with Sunni Arab tribes in western Anbar province after U.S. forces adopted a new strategy of arming and training local tribesmen as provincial police in the fight against al Qaeda. It has also fought pitched street battles with the Islamic Army in Iraq, a large group of mainly supporters of Saddam Hussein and ex-army officers, for control of the Baghdad suburb of Amiriya.
