What are some things that we can do individually to help those in extreme poverty? What could we do as a group to help end hunger? Please brainstorm 2 original ideas and comment on at least 1 peer's idea. Be creative.
To help those in extreme poverty we could offer them food and money until they get up back on their feet. We could also form a funraiser for the people in poverty to live in a safe closed environment.

ReplyDeleteto help those in need.... you could send them perishable foods, water, clothing and medical supplies. you could also funraise to collect money to send to them.

ReplyDeleteI think we should start growing genitically modified corn in Africa, because they need it more than our Ethanol fuel does. I also think that a year or 2 in Africa as a doctor should be a graduation requirment when doctors around the world are trying to get their PHD, Masters, and etc.

ReplyDeleteClearly we should be more flexible as a government to allow developing countries more control in how to spend the money that should be working on improving current poverty issues. Two comments: Casey is correct in that we should be contributing our money, but that is only step one to the whole. And I believe somebody here is just copying and pasting... -Chris

ReplyDeleteI think companys can help by reuseing the water and sending water were its most needed.The government should care more about what they are doing to the water and food because that is the sorce of all life. It is the sacred of all resorces. Without it we will be in trouble.
ReplyDeleteWe can all help individually by raising awareness telling our friends and others and doing our own part to help, like donating to charities, and such. We can even get our friends to help us, and we can together as a whole form organizations that help do things like raise awarness, raise funds, and tend to the poor in different ways.
ReplyDeleteI think that we should stop spending so much money on things we don't need and donate to charities. We should stop worrying about profits and lower the prices of these things. I agree with Abby and Casey about sneding food and water to those in need.
ReplyDeleteIts sad what we are doning to the water and the land that we live on. It has been here longer then any of us and yet were killing it. Poeple need to be more warly on where there water and food comes from.
ReplyDeleteI think that the government needs to do their part in helping people in poverty. Big businesses should stop being greedy and stop worrying about profits, and share some of the money they dont need, with people who do need it. I agree with greg that we should stop spending money on things we dont need.
ReplyDeleteA couple ideas that we could use to help those in extreme poverty would be to donate money to them or physically go there and gather donations from your community and bring it to the people in need of it. I agree with whitney, if many voices were heard about this situation maybe the government would do something.
ReplyDeleteTwo things that we can do to help those in extreme poverty and bring an end to hunger could be; (1)we could simply stop being so wasteful and spread the wealth, instead of neccesarily giving them money (which they could spend on drugs or alcohol) we could offer them clothes, food, or blankets (2) to end hunger, once again we need to just stop being so wasteful and end overconsumption, obesity is now becoming a widespread problem because we overeat what we could be giving to the millions who are going hunry
ReplyDeleteI agree with Emily; Big Buisness is much too greedy in the world we live in today. Most of the world's wealth is ammassed between a small percentage of people who are benifiting from this, while the rest of the world struggles and some starve, go hungry, and have little or no income to put a roof over their heads.

As one of the websites said we all as a group could stand up and do our part in the world. I also agree with Whitney because everyone should be able to be heard.
ReplyDeletefundrasing, donations and recycling are things we could do to help others in need of food and money. the US is the most obese country in the world, we can easily shre food with people in need. i agree with Greg theres no reason to spend money on things we dont need while people across the ocean are dying because they cant get one meal a day

ReplyDeleteTo help with poverty we could donate clothes to places like savers or salvation army. As a group we could organize drives to countries that need basic necessities. I agree with Emily, big businesses should take a percentage of their proceeds to donate to foundations or countries that are struggling.
ReplyDeleteTo end poverty you could have fundraisers based on the poverty rates and show the amount of poverty in each area. People cant help if there not aware of the poverty that goes on. As Becca said the us is the most obese country meaning there should be no one going hungry.

ReplyDeleteTo help stop and even prevent poverty, I think we should be helping the children in Africa were the root of the problem is... We should then provide them with homes and help each gets tested for aids and hiv. I agree with what felicia said about how you cant help if your not aware so we also need to help people know about this issues like on commercials and newspapers anything to get the idea out there.

ReplyDeleteIn order to help those in extreme poverty, we as citizens can only do what we've been doing. If our governement wants to help out those in need then they can go right ahead and do so. I also agree with Alyssa abotu building houses in poverty stricken areas. It can sort of be like what we did for Hurricane Katrina, but on a bigger scale.

to end world hunger before solving the problem of world pverty would require the food producers to start giving food away to those who need it for free, for the obvious reasons that does not interest the big corporate higher-ups because they only care about the money they make. as Casey said, fundraisers do work, but only to a certain extent. They rely on how generous the donations are and the amount of food it would take to feed all of these people is just realistically out of reach of a fundraiser. What we need is a unified effort by the food producers and world superpowers to get food to these third world countries where people barely have enough food to make it through the day.
ReplyDeleteOne way that Americans can help starving poeple in poverty is to have a canned food drive at schools at least once a month, and give the donations to families in poverty. Another way to help those in poverty is to give charitable donations as much as possible. I agree with Matt, not enough people are giving to charity, and when they do, they usually don't give much.

ReplyDeleteA way to help poverty would be by getting schools in your home town/state to get food drives going, and actually donating food and maybe even money to places that need it more then we do.
