ReplyDeleteWhen playing the Ayiti game i realized the harsh circumtances these people have to experience. It costs money for someone to get an education. There life is simply a stuggle, including their health, money and happiness.

ReplyDeleteBy playing the game I realized how hard life is in places like that; especially since it seems like a small issue we can quickly easily overcome, because we have the money and resources, effects them more harshly because they rely on every family member to bring in an income. Also, I agree with Casey and Becca, that it seems you need the money and the income to be able to get an education or get well.
ReplyDeletePlaying the game made me realize the difficulties in making choices over work, health, education, etc. In fact, the only way I won the game was by putting them all to work, depriving them of education. Becca had it right in that it takes quite a bit to keep them healthy, especially if you have to make a choice over money. And Casey was correct in that the choices stretch further into both happiness and education. This is Chris Lansing, by the way.
ReplyDeleteThe brochure we are making really helps you realize what other people around the world are going throguh. It really makes you think what if that was me and how can i help them? You really get a good look of what is going on around us, that we may not see until we've taken a good look.

ReplyDeleteWhen playing this game, It made me think about their daily struggles. It's very hard to maintain a stable living condition, let alone having enough to feed your family for the day. I definitely agree with Chris Lansing in this one, it deprives them of one or the other. I also agree with Becca about the money situation, You can't afford anything with the economy in such a poor economy.

ReplyDeletePretty much, this game is really hard, which i imagine living with hunger and poverty is like. I did beat the game, but with 2 deaths and everybody else being misserable. This games shows what people that are hungry and are in deep poverty have to do to survive.
ReplyDeleteBy playing this it made me realize how much people over there struggle to maintian a job, health, and an education. I did end up beating the game but with 3 deaths and everybody else in very bad conditions, so overall life in poverty and hunger is very harsh.

I agree with what Toste said about how we don't realize that things we consider simple are much more of a problem for people in haiti, and what Adam said about the game being really hard and how it shows how bad things are there.

Its given me a better understanding of the suffering people have to go through daily. I like Greg's comment on how its a challenfe for finding food and making money but it not that hard for us here.
ReplyDeletePlaying this game puts everything in perspective about how much of a struggle these people go through everyday. Every single time something bad happened, or someone became sick. It makes you feel really fortunate not to have to worry about all those possible problems that they have to endure. I agree with Whitney and Mike on how they have so many struggles day to day, and they work so hard but most don't make it.

ReplyDeleteHi it's LaSylvia, and I was actually very successful when I played the game the World Farmer game the first time. However, when I played it a second time, I realized that if you get successful in Haiti, it's really just from luck, because I failed at the game every other time I played it.
